Of course, a report of my 2017 reading wouldn't be complete without mentioning the What Should I Read Next podcast.  After listening for a few months and enjoying the conversations, I applied to be a guest, where I talked about three books I enjoy (The Year of Magical Thinking, Peace Like a River, and Delights & Shadows), one I didn't (The Confederacy of Dunces), and Anne Bogel made three personalized recommendations (Circle of Quiet (and the other Crosswicks Journals), Hourglass by Dani Shapiro, and Snow Falling on Cedars).  As you can see, I've read (and enjoyed) each of the recommendations (though I haven't yet finished all of the Crosswicks Journals).  Anne Bogel is a delightful host, with excellent taste, and I think she's probably also a wonderful human being in "real life."  So, give her some love and check out her What Should I Read Next podcast (I'm a guest on episode 85) or her blog at Modern Mrs. Darcy.
